I thought I would post this here in case it helps anyone.
My iPhone did a software update overnight and this morning I have found a new ‘Journal’ app that Apple have created installed.
Having recently reported my ex to the police, this would have been super useful to provide them with evidence of behaviours/incidents over a long period of time, rather than the pages and pages of notes I had written.The app can be locked with Face ID. But obviously we still need to be careful if our partners have access to our phones etc.
You can create dated entries and these are saved in chronological order, most recent first. It gives the ability to attach photos/screenshots/recordings to each entry.
Whether or not it is a useable form of evidence for the police, I don’t know, but it seems a good way to keep a diary and track what is going on in your relationships, save screenshots and recordings and how things have made you feel.
Hope this helps someone moving forwards and apologies if this isn’t a new app, I had no idea it existed. -

Thank you for sharing this. I know lots of the women on this forum find it useful to keep a record like this and it sounds like the app could be a good way of keeping everything in one place, as long as (as you say) it’s safe for them to do so.
When reporting abuse to the police, your statement is evidence, so having details you wrote at the time to refer back to is always going to be useful in linking specific incidents to dates, for example, and making the statement as accurate as possible.
