Just having a bad night.counselling is just so emotionally draining.feel ok after session like a weight has been lifted then it’s all there again within a matter of days.i try to put it out of my head and away again but then that stops me from dealing with it and i have been told i need to stop and think about things.i made myself do it tonight and now i just feel a mess and very alone.there is just so much to deal with from such a long marriage.although i am not with him now i re live the trauma on a daily basis which is why i distract myself and refuse to think about it.it’s just a vicious circle.i have recently found out through talking to the counsellor that some of the things that happened are still abuse even though i thought it was normal behaviour.it just never ends i am just constantly on edge as though i still live with him.sorry just needed to sound off!

      Hi Atsah,

Thank you for your post. Processing trauma can take time and you need that safe space to heal- going to counselling isn’t easy- it takes a lot of courage and you will get there. As you are not with him now- it can feel like your brain is having to play catch up- as you are now in a place where you can safely process what was happening. keep with it- you are doing amazing.

You can access free online courses created by or in partnership with therapists specialising in trauma at Bloom. These courses can be accessed in your own time and at your own pace and cover topics such as trauma, abuse and boundaries.

      Best Wishes

      Lisa
