Lifelong non harrassment order

I know we can’t go into details of court cases but has anyone applied for a lifelong one? It’s usually 6 months or a year but surely there must be cases where contact with a rapist abuser in anyway would be considered harmful. I wonder if it’s worth trying. Maybe if I ask for a lifelong one I will get 5 years? Anyone have experience of this?

My ex got a restraining order. The court put this in such a way, that it lasts until the court decides otherwise. If they never act on it, it will last forever.
I think this is the best way to do it.
