With friends they all laugh
Sharing stories and dreams
What a perfect couple
Or so it may seem
He is attentive and kind
Fooling friends with his charm
But little do they know
Just how much he can harm.
They walk home together
On a beautiful warm night
His hands holding hers
Just a little too tight.
When the front door closes
His smile it just goes
Her stomach in knots
As she waits for the blows.
Not physical not him
He rarely leaves a mark
Remember the saying
The worst IS the bark.
Beaten by words, control, silence and hate
day after day
Degraded worthless but he likes you that way.
But silently you grow stronger
You wont take any more
One day you will tell your story
Of what happens when you close the front door.
