Hello. I left my abusive partner and I live at refuge with our daughter. Police was involved but charges been dropped. I’ve been advised by police officer to apply for non molestation order. I was trying to do it but I’m not qualified for legal aid (was working while was with him) they only look at last 3 month’s not at my current situation, living on benefits. Domestic violence helpline offered take my statement and fill application form for free but I’ll have to represent myself in court. During out relationship he was controlling, coerced me to have sex with him, there was mentally and physically abuse. Since I left he keep trying to contact me in any way (even when he was on bail conditions to do not contact me or approach me) I would like to start over in diffrent city but o feel like he will never leave me alone and he will always try to find me. I recorded him making some indirect threats to my friends and family and him saying he will get me back one way or another. I just wonder what are people experience? Is it hard to get non molestation order when charges been dropped and you represent yourself without solicitor?

Please try calling the Rights of Women this evening. How are the refuge workers helping you with this as they should be best placed to know he best specialist help for you.

If there haven’t been any incidents that doesnt actually mean anything at all. It doesn’t mean hes no longer who he is!

I seems like this is used as a way of ducking out of implementing protection, vitally needed, as something has to be done to halt the number of women’s deaths every week.

You could go to your local court and ask to see judge wth your application (ex parte and without right of automatic appeal) the cost wil be about £50 (from memory , but phone the court to find out as the clerks will outline the process and tell to when to come in.

Do keep posting and I’m sorry this hasn’t happened so far for you.

      Warmest wishes ts

My support worker advised me wait a month or two and apply for legal aid again and even if I have to pay it’ll be much less or she can go with me. There are evidences for harassment and coercing and controlling behaviour. Also got a recorded video (Detail removed by Moderator) when he is calling me names and admitting to slapping me. I just heard it’s hard to get non molestation order and I feel like nothing is going right for me and I’m just not ready for another failure (looking at him all smugged cos he got away with everything once again like he did with breaching his bail all the time and make new threats to kill and police doing nothing about it)
