Has anyone utilised the Rights of Women website for advice on leaving a relationship? I’m really building up to leaving as things are just bad here all the time but don’t know what to do.

      Hi Sad and alone,

I realise you’re asking for other women’s experiences here but I just wanted to give a little clarification that I thought might be of use. Rights of Women specialise in providing legal advice, so that’s the information that you would find on their website. Understanding your legal rights in areas such as jointly owned property, joint tenancy, divorce, child contact, immigration issues, injunctions, and if you wanted to report the abuse to the police can all be vital in your plan to leave. However, it’s not advice on how to leave a relationship as such.

You might find the information in the Survivor’s Handbook about leaving your relationship safely helpful in thinking about next steps. You could also speak to a Women’s Aid worker using our Live Chat service and they will be able to explain your options and let you know about anywhere else that might be helpful for specialist support or advice.

      Take care and keep posting,
      Lisa
