I’m living with the abuser in his house. We have separate rooms but are in a relationship. The only reason I go in (room removed by Moderator) is to check all the windows are closed before I go out each day. (timeframe removed by Moderator) when I went in, I noticed a camera on the drawers, pointing at the door. As I entered it clearly activated, because it lit up and made a wirring sound.

This feels really off, quite sinister actually, because I’m not happy about being recorded, and because it makes me think where else has he got cameras in the house? I can’t see any anywhere else, but you can get some that are really small and easy to hide. It also makes me think what’s he hiding, but the first two reasons are the main reasons I’m uncomfortable.

What’s people’s thoughts on this? Should I say anything to him?

Update – it’s a portable surveillance device, looks like a digital camera. I looked up the brand and they only make surveillance products. (detail removed by Moderator). so obviously it’s to record me. It really makes me wonder if he’s planted any anywhere else. Honestly this has got me so stressed. Do I say anything to him?

      Hi Sportygirl,

Thank you for sharing with us. I hope it is helping you to post on the forum. It is understandable you are concerned and feeling stressed about finding cameras in the home.

You might find it helpful to connect with your local domestic abuse service as they can often offer ongoing emotional and practical support with what you are going through. If you need the details of your local service then you can find them here.

Keep posting to us when you can.

      Best wishes,

      Lisa
