I have booked an initial appointment….need to know my rights in terms of House and children. A very small step I know, but the elation I felt was indescribable xxxx

That is a very big step. Well done. Keep taking the actions. They will all add up. You’d never eat an elephant in one go, but you would piece by piece. Leaving is a process. Small steps will get you out of the cycle of abuse.

Seemed like a massive step. I’m terrified but excited but obviously this doesn’t mean anything.
What kind of things do I need to be finding out? Will they be ok with me not starting divorce proceedings just asking questions??
I do feel slightly like in betraying husband, can’t even imagine what he will do when he finds out I’ve been???

Very well done. You want to ask things like your legal entitlement to finances including pensions, access to children. Tell them about all the domestic abuse. Just to make sure there is no contact. And do not tell your husband about your visit. They will be fine about you not starting divorce proceedings until you are ready. I did the same. Get all your facts right. Then make a decision x

Well done. As KIP said, tell them all about DV. If they are not specialist, you can ask WA for a contact. I saw my solicitor (removed by moderator) with my WA outreach worker, which was such a help. My outreach worker knew far better than I what to ask and what to expect. If you have anything written down, take it with you.

You are on the start of a journey. Congratulations!
