Hi, I’m not sure if this is allowed so please let me know if not. It seems really hard to come by recommendations of family lawyers with experience in emotional abuse and wondered if anyone can recommend theirs, if allowed. If there is a way to private message and you prefer that, please let me know.

      Hi Thrive

Welcome to the forum! I hope you find it a supportive place to be.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I just wanted to give you some information which may be useful to you.

Rights of Women are a voluntary organisation offering free, confidential legal advice on matters including family law, domestic abuse, children and child contact issues. Rights of Women are available on 0207 251 6577. They also have a website at http://www.rightsofwomen.org.uk<http://www.rightsofwomen.org.uk> .

The Coram Children’s Legal Centre is a unique, independent national charity concerned with law and policy affecting children and young people. They offer legal advice and representation to children, their carers and professionals throughout the UK. They can be contacted on 0300 330 5480, 8am – 6pm, Mon – Fri. The Children’s Legal Centre has a website at http://childlawadvice.org.uk/

You could speak to your local domestic abuse service https://www.womensaid.org.uk/domestic-abuse-directory/ as they may be able to let you know of solicitors in your area that have experience in domestic abuse.

Take care and please keep posting

      Lisa

Thank you Lisa for taking the time to reply and post the links. I guess I was hoping for a personal recommendation, however, I’ll look at the lists and hopefully find the right solicitor soon.

I agree this is a massive problem as the helplines are overwhelmed just now.
I’d really like to speak to a solicitor about my situation, but I’ve tried many times to get through to Rights of Women and have had no luck.
Sometimes I just give up and can’t be bothered but I know I should.
I feel I would be wasting my time and money if I don’t find the right professional person to give me advice, but I’m not finding it easy to find out the best professional person in my area.

        Hi Tickleribber,
Although I managed to speak to Rights of Women and they were helpful in giving information about our rights, they cannot recommend particular solicitors. Most people just point you towards the law society where you then have to search for one from amongst so many.
I’m still hoping someone else might be able to share details of their solicitor if they were satisfied.
All the best to you. I hope you get something sorted.
