Hi everyone,
We know it can be a really hard time during the festive period, it can feel very isolating to see this time being celebrated when you might feel trapped or it’s bringing up memories or mixed emotions after leaving. We wanted to check in with you all and make sure you know a few different ways to reach out for support.
Support
Our Live Chat will be open 8am – 4pm on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day so you can confidentially speak to a fully trained support worker. On our email service, we’ll respond within 5 working days. You can find your local service here, and more information about what other services are available here.
You can also call the 24/7 National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247. If you’re struggling with your mental health, the Samaritans will be available any time, day or night, on 116 123.
The Survivors’ Handbook provides practical support and information, whatever stage you’re at. There are also free courses focused on healing from trauma available on Bloom, including recovering from abusive relationships.
On the forum
On the forum, a moderator will check in multiple times every day and you can always message us or email survivors-forum@womensaid.org.uk. We hope you’re all taking care of yourselves as much as you can and will continue to look out for each other over this period.
Last year, a few of you posted messages of support and shared some coping tips which you can read here, and you’re always welcome to share in the replies to this post. You could let us know anything that’s been helping you get through it, any goals for the new year, any new traditions you’ve started since leaving, or simply how you’re feeling at the moment.
Finally, a big thank you from everyone at Women’s Aid for another year of being such an amazing community.
