      Hi all

      I am new

I left a n**********c emotionally abusive partner before Xmas

(detail removed by moderator) asking him to do a drugs test as he has been doing drugs many years. His letter back is gaslighting and emotional manipulation that he is so good at.

Has anyone been in this situation? Or can offer any advice?

      (detail removed by moderator)

He has verbally abused me for so long and told me I can’t cope and bad mother etc so I’m dealing with years of stonewalling, him playing the victim and blaming me.

      Appreciate any love

Am on holiday with my child, and Ijust been crying in the corner.

I also don’t have my parents they passed away so he is preying on my vulnerability

      Hi Copevarde and welcome,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling so much right now. I hope that you’re able to at least enjoy some of your holiday.

It sounds like he’s used a lot of emotional abuse tactics to keep his control over the years. Unfortunately, it’s quite common for perpetrators to carry on their abuse in whatever ways they can after a woman leaves.

You deserve to have support around his behaviour and the impact that it’s having on you. You could chat to a Women’s Aid worker in confidence via our Live Chat service (8am – 6pm weekdays and 10am – 6pm weekends/bank holidays). They won’t tell you what to do but can discuss your situation and signpost you to other support that’s relevant for you. You should also be able to access some ongoing support through your local domestic abuse service.

      Take care and keep posting,
      Lisa
