ParticipantHi all happy Christmas to all and thinking of everyone this Christmas.
my ex coerced me into a mortgage nearly (timeframe removed by Moderator) years ago. Due to the ongoing abuse I lost my job and we split up.
the flat will go up for sale (timeframe removed by Moderator) and I have nowhere to go.
I have no family and I gave up my social housing flat to buy a place with my ex. He knew this was all I had as I am (detail removed by Moderator) and that flat had been my home for (timeframe removed by Moderator) years. I was incredibly vulnerable there as I got daily abuse from neighbours and I think my ex saw an opportunity to find my weakness.
i know when the flat sells I will be homeless and I heard that I will go into temporary housing. Im scared of this as I have ocd and autism and no support.
has anyone had similar experience? What was your housing like?

Main ModeratorHi Hollapops-,
Thank you for posting about your situation. It sounds really difficult and I can understand why you’re worried about what’s going to happen. Hopefully some of the other women here will be able to post and share their experiences of temporary accommodation with you soon.
The council should take into account any needs that you have due to OCD and autism when they’re providing the accommodation. It might be worth contacting Shelter for some advice on this. They are the housing law and homelessness experts and have a helpline and live chat as well as lots of information on the website. You could also get in touch with your local domestic abuse service for some ongoing support, they may be able to offer some advocacy speaking with the council.
Take care and keep posting,

ParticipantHi Hollapops.
(job detail removed by Moderator), so I just wanted to pass on a little advice from my experiences. I have also been through the process myself so I understand how worried you must be feeling.
If you are experiencing domestic abuse, you can approach any Council where you feel safe to be rehoused and make a homelessness application if you are homeless or at risk of homelessness within 56 days. You do not need to have a local connection to the area in which you choose for the homeless application. In my experience, it is better to make the homeless application sooner rather than later; if you do so before the 56 days, they will register you and then upgrade your priority when the 56 days come into play.
They can also offer information and advice for refuge accommodation. Emergency temporary accommodation via the council can be a furnished temporary council property, a refuge or, in some cases, a hotel or B&B, but it must be suitable for your needs though. You would be classed as a priority due to your OCD and Autism and experiencing domestic abuse, and they would have a legal duty to rehouse you.
I hope this helps a little.
