Divorcing sexually abusive husband. What do I tell the kids?

My husband has been sexually abusive since the beginning of our (detail removed by Moderator) year marriage.

I have finally decided to seek a divorce but I don’t know how to explain to them why I am ending the marriage

As far as the children are concerned he’s basically a nice dad.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing about what’s going on for you at the moment.

It’s never easy explaining the reasons for a divorce to children but so much harder when the reason is something like sexual abuse. I think you might find this reply to a recent post helpful: Help, talking to children and leaving.
