This is so similar to my situation. We have a joint mortgage and a wonderful dog too. I’m going to have to leave our dog as the room I’ve been offered can’t take pets and I can’t afford to rent anywhere till I don’t have half a mortgage to pay. I really feel for you. Keep us updated.

I would completely agree with Ocean20. My current experience of abuse is very similar. My spouse doesn’t shout at me, I don’t get sworn at and there’s no name calling. But the rudeness and consistent pointing out of my flaws and things I should have done but haven’t, or a disregard for my efforts to be kind, grind down my self worth and make me feel awful. It’s taken me a long time to accept I’m in an abusive relationship.

Thanks so much, MiniMeerkat. It’s so lovely to hear I’m not alone.
Spoke with my family member today and they’re keep to support me. Have even experienced a few things at my bday party recently that worried them.

I have my assessment soon & it’s definitely a factor in a) how I’m able to respond to emotional abuse and b) being able to recognise it.
